Zen Rinzai. The chief abbot of the Tenryu-Ji section. Zen master of the Tenryu-Ji and Nansyu-ji monastery.

 

応無所住 而生其心

The mind emerges spontaneously when it is free from feelings of attachment, desire, and detachment. (Diamond sutra)

Honolific name Sokko-ken. He was ordained under Gido Syoken at the age of 5. At 17 years old, He entered Syogen-Ji monastery at Gifu and studied under Zen master Tairyu, then moved to Tenryu-Ji monastery and studied under Tekisui Giboku for many years. Eventually, he succeeded the Dhrama from Tekisui. In 1893, he was appointed Zen master of Tenryu-ji Temple. In 1897, he became the chief abbot of Tenryu-ji section but died the following year.
