Honorific name: Daido-enkan Zenji. Dharma transmission from Gasan Jito. Grand-Dharma transmission from Hakuin Ekaku. He became an abbot of Soken-ji in Aichi in 1796. He raised many outstanding Dharma heirs, Sozan Genkyo, Kaizan Sokaku, Shun’nou Zen’etsu, Myoki Soseki and so on. His Dharma lineage is called the Takuju school and stems from the Hakuin school as well as the Inzan school in the Rinzai sect.
